Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Nebraska Bank of Commerce is seeking a full-time individual to prepare and process loan documentation and assist loan officers in the completion and maintenance of borrowers’ loan files. NBC’s in-house loan operations department conducts a variety of loan transactions including commercial, commercial real estate, industrial, ag, and consumer, including TRID and HELOCs. Loan administrative duties include interacting with loan administration staff, banking officers and customers by playing a key role in closing new business with an emphasis in loan documentation production and ongoing loan documentation support and maintenance.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
Daily: Process loan payments, loan draws, participation payments and advances, paid loans files, and release of collateral. Monitor department reports and assist loan officer(s) on overdrafts, participation activity, notes coming due, ticklers, financial information, run GL tickets for secondary market, and customer service issues. Responsible for daily balancing of the general ledgers, reviewing of daily reports and monthly certifications. Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing and resolving customer inquiries with a focus on serving the customer and proactively anticipating customer needs.
Process: Set-up files and maintain loan documents according to bank procedures. Prepare, type, and process variety of documents required to set up both routine and complex new loans. Close and disburse loans in accordance with federal laws, bank policy, and approved loan commitment.
Assist: Assist with the correction of audit exceptions. Research and correct technical exceptions reported by loan officer(s).
Vendors and Systems: Order services necessary for the completion of the loan process (credit report, insurance, flood, appraisals, surveys, UCC searches, and title). Responsible for maintenance and call back in the Fiserv system. Provide primary input for loan processing on LaserPro and Fiserv.
Maintain and Organize: Maintain tickler system to ensure timely receipt of financial statements, tax returns, collateral documents. Follow-up on final title policies, recording documents as needed after closing.
Training: Expected to attend and participate in ongoing training and meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, and/or business administration preferred. High school or equivalent degree considered with experience.
3-5 years of loan documentation, loan operations, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience with Fiserv and LaserPro computer systems preferred.
Proactive and responsive with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent follow-through.
The ability to prioritize using effective time management and organizational skills in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to work well with people in a team environment and with customers.
Experience with Window-based computer programs.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively and professionally at all levels of the organization and in the community.
Must possess a “can do” customer service attitude/philosophy.
Comply with all requirements, policies and procedures of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and attend all mandatory BSA training as needed for this position.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
The work environment for this position is primarily an office setting that is clean, comfortable, and subject to minimal noise, heat, or dust.
In performing the essential functions of this role, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, and use their hands to write and type. The position also requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds, as well as perform movements such as reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting, and pulling. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
