Calls from scammers pretending to be your bank are prevalent today and seem to rotate from bank to bank.  What should you do if you get a phone call from the "bank" that you are questioning whether it is real or not?

NBC will not contact you and ask for:

  • Your online banking password
  • Your 4-digit ATM PIN
  • A one-time access code sent to your phone or email
  • Your card number or full account number

We will never require you to:

  • Provide remote access to your computer
  • Send money to "secure" your account
  • Act quickly or pressure you into action
  • Click on a link from an email sent by "us"

Common Red Flags:

  1. Instructions to act "right now" to avoid a loss.
  2. Requests for remote access to your device.
  3. An aggressive caller that tries to keep you on the phone.
  4. Requests for a one-time access code.

Remember:

  • Caller ID can be spoofed to look like it is from our bank
  • Scammers can use fake email addresses that look real
  • When in doubt, hang up!  We won’t think you’re being rude!  Call us back at 402-423-2111.  Do not hit re-dial (remember caller ID can be spoofed). Feel free to call the number above or the number of your banker.
